Solutions

A solution to Luxembourg's aging population is to increase the age of retirement. This would allow people to work longer, boosting the economy and therefore making more money readily available to equal out the dependency load. Another solution is to increase the birth rate. If more children are born, the dependency load will be equaled out. The only problem with this solution is the possible dilemma  of overpopulation. With the meager size of Luxembourg, an increase birth rate could have serious repercussion on the country's economy and the use of natural resources. Another option is to start limiting immigration rates. Immigration rates is the main cause for the large amount of middle-aged citizens living in Luxembourg. Limiting immigration would help control the inflation in numbers of the middle-aged population, and therefore making the dependency load bearable. A problem with limiting immigration is that it could affect the economy through a shortage of laborers, since Luxembourg's rapidly increasing economy demands more and more workers.
